The rule

Do sidequests when they unlock something durable: a duty, feature, tribe/allied society, relic, collection source, emote, mount, title, or repeatable activity. Leave ordinary sidequest cleanup for later zone completion.

  • achievements: 3,844 local wiki pages
  • beast tribes: 20 local wiki pages
  • relics: 2,037 local wiki pages

Use level bands

Batch sidequest cleanup by level band and expansion. ARR cleanup should not interrupt Heavensward entry unless it unlocks Crystal Tower, Coils, Hildibrand, relics, tribes, or a system you want right now.

  • 1-50: class/job, MSQ, first duties, feature systems.
  • 50/60/70/80/90/100: expansion caps, raid routes, relic starts, tribes, collection goals.
  • Current cap: weekly systems and patch content first.

When to ignore a marker

If a quest offers only local story and low-level rewards, leave it until you are cleaning a zone or chasing achievements. The site should make these distinctions clear instead of presenting every quest as urgent.

  • Urgent: unlocks a system or duty.
  • Useful: leads to collection or weekly content.
  • Optional: flavor, lore, or completionism.
