Boss and mechanic notes
Windward Wilds has local boss notes for: The White Wraith: Guardian Arkveld. These notes are pulled from the local wiki and should be treated as source-backed prep unless separately marked as human-reviewed strategy.
- Cleave: The boss raises one of its claws, indicating a wide, late telegraphed line AoE that will hit that side and through its hitbox, leaving its opposite flank safe.
- Charge + follow-up AoE: The boss will jump to one edge of the arena. It will then charge to the opposite side (with colored cracks on the ground as an indicator), damaging anyone in its path. Afterwards, a follow-up AoE will originate from the ground cracks based on their color.
- White: A late telegraphed line AoE through the cracks, leaving the sides safe.
- Red: Two late telegraphed wide line AoEs to the sides of the cracks, leaving a narrow region in the middle safe.
- Cascading line AoEs: A telegraphed line AoE with arrows will appear, then gradually cascade outwards in both directions as late telegraphed line AoEs. In later uses of this attack, the cascading line AoEs may strike red clouds at the edges of the arena, causing them to emit a follow-up set of cascading line AoEs that travers the entire arena.
- Multiple charges + epicenter AoEs: The boss will show three line AoE charge telegraphs in sequence. At the end of each charge, a circle AoE telegraph with outward arrows will be briefly displayed, before the boss charges again. The AoEs will then resolve in sequence with late ground telegraphs. The circle AoEs will cascade outwards as concentric donut AoEs.
- Half-room cleave: The boss will raise its head and one side of its body in one direction, indicating a late-telegraphed half-room cleave in that direction.
- Rear line AoE: The boss will then raise its tail, indicated a narrow late-telegraphed line AoE hitting its rear.
- Stack marker: A random player is targeted with a stack.
- Towers and baited AoEs: Six towers spawn: two tankbuster towers (opposite each other) and four normal towers. When the towers are active, random players will receive two sets of baited circle AoEs. The party should attempt to bait these away from the towers before standing in the towers. There are several seconds between the last set of circle AoEs and the towers resolving, so there is plenty of time to adjust. The towers will leave behind white crystal formations which are relevant in the next mechanic.
- Exaflares: Guardian Arkveld gathers energy... Four "exaflare" moving circle AoE telegraphs will spawn from the middle, on all cardinals or intercardinals. There are four sets of exaflares in total, alternating between cardinals and intercardinals. The first set of exaflares will hit the crystal formations, causing to explode late-telegraphed point-blank AoEs. The larger crystals will emit larger AoEs. During the subsequent exaflare sets, random players will receive spread AoE markers. These inflict Magic Vulnerability Up, so overlapping them is lethal.
- Multi-hit raid-wide: Guardian Arkveld brings its might to bear! The boss deals three hits of raid-wide damage (first two physical, third magical) that should be healed through. All players will also be inflicted with the Guardian Will debuff for the remainder of the fight, increasing damage taken and causing damage-over-time.
- Roar: The boss will rear back for a few seconds when at a wall, indicating a magical party-wide attack.
- Rotating line AoE: The boss spawns a purple line AoE telegraph that will rotate in the direction of the arrows. Get behind the arrows, then spread out, because each player will receive a spread AoE marker.
