Boss and mechanic notes
Tender Valley has local boss notes for: Barreltender, Anthracite, Inexplicable Entity: The Greatest Serpent of Tural. These notes are pulled from the local wiki and should be treated as source-backed prep unless separately marked as human-reviewed strategy.
- Barbed Bellow: Party-wide magical damage.
- Heavyweight Needles: Spawns multiple telegraphed conal AoEs, leaving gaps in between. Some gaps will be larger than others. Shortly before the cast resolves, the conal AoEs will expand and cover the smaller gaps, so players should stand in the middle of the largest gaps. This attack also spawns spines at the edges of the arena that will inflict bleeding to anyone who steps in them.
- Tender Drop: Drops multiple cacti on the arena. Most will have spines and a flower on top, while two will be naked.
- Barrel Breaker: Telegraphed radial knockback from the middle. Position to be knocked back towards a naked cactus, because each of the cacti will use a late telegraph point-blank AoE (Needle Storm), with the spiked and flowered cacti AoEs being larger (Needle Superstorm), leaving only some corners safe. Can also preposition near a naked cactus and use knockback resist.
- Succulent Stomp: Gives a random player a stack marker and jumps on them, dealing split physical damage.
- Prickly Left or Prickly Right: An initial half-room cleave telegraph in the direction of the cast that expands into a wide sweep hitting most of the arena except for a narrow conal region directly opposite the name of the cast.
- Tender Fury: Telegraphed physical tankbuster.
- Tender Drop is used again and combined with Heavyweight Needles, so players will need to position in the largest gaps that are close to a naked cacti. The cacti point-blank AoEs will go off a couple seconds after the conal AoEs.
- Anthrabomb: Spawns three black circle symbols and arrows, indicating where it will drop bombs that explode as large, late telegraphed circle AoEs.
- Anthrabomb: Now spawns a yellow arrow leading towards a circle or square well, indicating it will throw a bomb in it, which will explode as late telegraphed line AoEs originating from the alternating wall holes of the same shape.
- Anthrabomb: Now spawns two black arrows/circles and one yellow arrow, which is a combination of the first two usages of this ability. Players must dodge both the point-blank AoEs on the ground and the line AoEs from the wall holes at the same time.
- Carbonaceous Combustion: Party-wide magical damage.
- Carniflagration: Similar to the third usage of Anthrabomb (both black and yellow arrows) but used three times in a row. The next set of arrow telegraphs will appear shortly before the previous AoEs resolve, so players will need to consider the order of mechanics and dodge accordingly. Before the third set of AoEs resolve, each player will also be given a spread AoE marker (Anthrabomb).
- Burning Coals: Stack marker on a random player, dealing magical damage.
