WIKI/Dungeons/Tender Valley

Tender Valley

Dawntrail

Overview

At the behest of Zeycihan, professor of archeology at the Studium, you are tasked with venturing into a valley swarming with sabotenders. In the furthest reaches of this gorge of succulents lie the remnants of an ancient structure believed to be of Yok Huy origin, but if you are to discover what mysteries dwell within, you must first survive the innumerous needles of the valley's denizens...

Objectives

  • Arrive in Spineblossom.
  • Defeat the barreltender.
  • Arrive at the tremendous tank.
  • Defeat Anthracite.
  • Arrive at the Altar of the Urn Exulted.
  • Defeat the greatest serpent of Tural.

Enemies

  • Valley Saguarotender
  • Valley Barbmole
  • Valley Nopalitender
  • Valley Tumbleclaw
  • Valley Campeador
  • Valley Sabotender
  • Valley Cactuar
  • Valley Flowertender
  • Valley Megamaguey
  • Valley Aspis
  • Valley Cliffkite
  • Valley Digger
  • Valley Gedan
  • Yok Huy Orb
  • Yok Huy Vessel
  • Yok Huy Altar
  • Yok Huy Attestant

Encounter Notes

  • During the last pull in the third area, the Yok Huy Attestant will periodically use Ancient Wrath, tethering the urns on the sides. These will use line AoEs that will be blocked by the stone barriers, similar to the Ronkan Dreamer enemies in The Qitana Ravel.

Boss Notes

  • Note that failing any mechanics in these fights will result in the player who failed them receiving a 1 minute stacking Vulnerability Up debuff.
  • Players should note the circle and square holes on the arena and corresponding shaped holes in the walls, which will be used frequently for mechanics in this fight.

Boss Encounters

Barreltender

  • Barbed Bellow: Party-wide magical damage.
  • Heavyweight Needles: Spawns multiple telegraphed conal AoEs, leaving gaps in between. Some gaps will be larger than others. Shortly before the cast resolves, the conal AoEs will expand and cover the smaller gaps, so players should stand in the middle of the largest gaps. This attack also spawns spines at the edges of the arena that will inflict bleeding to anyone who steps in them.
  • Tender Drop: Drops multiple cacti on the arena. Most will have spines and a flower on top, while two will be naked.
  • Barrel Breaker: Telegraphed radial knockback from the middle. Position to be knocked back towards a naked cactus, because each of the cacti will use a late telegraph point-blank AoE (Needle Storm), with the spiked and flowered cacti AoEs being larger (Needle Superstorm), leaving only some corners safe. Can also preposition near a naked cactus and use knockback resist.
  • Succulent Stomp: Gives a random player a stack marker and jumps on them, dealing split physical damage.
  • Prickly Left or Prickly Right: An initial half-room cleave telegraph in the direction of the cast that expands into a wide sweep hitting most of the arena except for a narrow conal region directly opposite the name of the cast.
  • Tender Fury: Telegraphed physical tankbuster.
  • Tender Drop is used again and combined with Heavyweight Needles, so players will need to position in the largest gaps that are close to a naked cacti. The cacti point-blank AoEs will go off a couple seconds after the conal AoEs.

Anthracite

  • Anthrabomb: Spawns three black circle symbols and arrows, indicating where it will drop bombs that explode as large, late telegraphed circle AoEs.
  • Anthrabomb: Now spawns a yellow arrow leading towards a circle or square well, indicating it will throw a bomb in it, which will explode as late telegraphed line AoEs originating from the alternating wall holes of the same shape.
  • Anthrabomb: Now spawns two black arrows/circles and one yellow arrow, which is a combination of the first two usages of this ability. Players must dodge both the point-blank AoEs on the ground and the line AoEs from the wall holes at the same time.
  • Carbonaceous Combustion: Party-wide magical damage.
  • Carniflagration: Similar to the third usage of Anthrabomb (both black and yellow arrows) but used three times in a row. The next set of arrow telegraphs will appear shortly before the previous AoEs resolve, so players will need to consider the order of mechanics and dodge accordingly. Before the third set of AoEs resolve, each player will also be given a spread AoE marker (Anthrabomb).
  • Burning Coals: Stack marker on a random player, dealing magical damage.
  • Chimney Smack: Telegraphed magical tankbuster.

Inexplicable Entity: The Greatest Serpent of Tural

  • Dubious Tulidisaster: Party-wide magical damage and spawns spikes at the edges of the arena that will inflict bleeding to anyone who steps in them.
  • Bouncy Council: Spawns four untargetable clones, each of which will begin telegraphing a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line AoE (Misplaced Mystery) based on the blue arrows over its head.
  • Screes of Fury: Telegraphed AoE magical tankbuster.
  • Bouncy Council: Now spawns four untargetable clones, each of which will begin telegraphing a point-blank AoE, as indicated by the spinning blue arrows. Move to the corner without a clone.
  • Greatest Labyrinth: You feel a longing to vacate your mortal coil... Pulls all players to the middle of the room. Spawns green arrows in different directions on the arena tiles (except for the middle 4 squares), purple X symbols on three corners, and a blue O symbol on one corner tile. Each player will receive Greatest Curse that lasts for 15s. They must cleanse this debuff before it naturally expires or they will instantly die. To cleanse the debuff, players must use the green arrows to transport them to the corner O tile. Touching the X tiles will inflict poison, dealing high damage-over-time. The symbols will disappear after the mechanic resolves.
  • The easiest way to solve this is to locate the blue O tile corner work backwards, following the arrows that point to it until they reach the center of the room to find the safe path.
  • Once you have reached the blue O tile, you may safely return to the center of the labyrinth and start attacking the boss once more, without waiting for the maze to disappear.
  • Bouncy Council: Now spawns four clones in the 4 quadrants of the room. Two of these, always adjacent to each other, will use point-blank AoEs, while the other two use line AoEs.
  • Moist Summoning: Spawns an untargetable Great Serpent of Tural add, which will use three sequential stack AoEs on a random player (Mighty Blorp) dealing physical damage and leaving behind a puddle. Each new puddle will be smaller than the last. Players who linger in this puddle for too long will receive sludge for 15s, dealing damage-over-time. The add will disappear after this mechanic.
  • Greatest Flood: Telegraphed radial knockback from one corner. Position to be knocked back while avoiding the lingering puddles, or use a knockback immunity ability. The puddles will disappear after this mechanic.
  • Bouncy Council: Now spawns five clones, 4 in the quadrants of the room and one in the center. Two adjacent quadrant ones will use a point-blank AoE, while the other two quadrant ones and the center one will use line AoEs.
  • Great Torrent: Spawns numerous sequential AoEs that cover the arena. Move into the first when it goes off. Also gives each player a spread AoE marker.
