Arenvald Lentinus

Also known as: Arenvald

scionsA Realm Reborn

Overview

Arenvald Lentinus is an Ala Mhigan member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and one of the Echo-blessed allies who supports the Warrior of Light across the liberation of Gyr Abania and the crises that follow. Though first presented as a young Scion stationed at the Waking Sands, his later story ties him closely to Ala Mhigo, Fordola rem Lupis, the anti-primal response effort, and the lingering wounds left by Garlean occupation.

History & Lore

Early Life

Arenvald was born in occupied Ala Mhigo to an Ala Mhigan mother and a Garlean father. His mixed heritage made him an outcast under both Ala Mhigan resentment and imperial oppression, and his childhood was marked by rejection, abuse, and abandonment. After surviving on the streets, he eventually left his homeland and became an adventurer.

His Echo became the turning point that drew him toward the Scions. Rather than treating the gift as proof of destiny, Arenvald often frames it as a chance to become useful to others and to prove that someone with his past can still choose a heroic path.

A Realm Reborn

During A Realm Reborn, Arenvald is based at the Waking Sands as one of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. He is not part of the Warrior of Light's front-line circle at first, but his presence helps show that the Scions include other Echo-bearers and support personnel whose work continues away from the battlefield.

He survives the imperial attack on the Waking Sands and remains tied to that place even after the Scions rebuild elsewhere. That survival shapes his quiet sense of obligation to the fallen and keeps him connected to the organization through one of its darkest early losses.

Stormblood

Arenvald becomes more prominent during Stormblood, when the liberation of Ala Mhigo gives him a chance to return to the homeland that had rejected him. He supports the Scions and the Alliance effort in Gyr Abania, carrying both pride and pain into the campaign.

After Ala Mhigo's liberation, Arenvald works with Alphinaud and others to investigate the legacy of the mad king Theodoric. This arc gives him a more active adventuring role and places his personal history beside Ala Mhigo's attempt to rebuild itself after occupation and tyranny.

Shadowbringers and Death Unto Dawn

In the post-Shadowbringers story, Arenvald joins Raubahn's anti-primal efforts alongside Fordola. Their shared resistance to tempering makes them valuable in situations where ordinary soldiers would be vulnerable, even though both are still carrying the damage caused by the Empire.

During the investigation of the Telophoroi towers, Arenvald is gravely wounded. The injury ends his ability to continue the same kind of field work, but it does not remove him from the story. His recovery reframes him as someone learning to serve in a new way rather than simply disappearing after the battlefield takes something from him.

Endwalker

In Endwalker, Arenvald is connected to the Silver Griffins and to Ala Mhigo's efforts to make room for people broken by the occupation, including former collaborators and survivors who cannot easily return to ordinary life. His perspective matters because he understands what it means to be judged by bloodline, history, and wartime choices.

His scenes with Fordola continue one of the more grounded Ala Mhigan threads: the question of how people live after liberation. Arenvald remains compassionate without becoming naive, and his role shifts from proving himself through combat to helping others imagine a future after shame, violence, and loss.

Personality and Relationships

Arenvald is kind, earnest, and often self-deprecating, with a habit of masking heavy experiences behind good humor. He wants to be useful, but his strongest moments come when he recognizes the same hurt in other people and chooses patience over judgment.

His dynamic with Fordola is especially important. Both are Ala Mhigans shaped by Garlean rule, both carry complicated relationships with their homeland, and both are pushed to find purpose after the war. Arenvald often serves as a rare person willing to meet Fordola without reducing her to her crimes or her usefulness.

Gameplay

Arenvald appears as a Gladiator-aligned NPC and is involved in several Scion and Ala Mhigan questlines. His quest involvement includes The Legacy of Our Fathers, Arenvald's Adventure, The Darkness Below, The Mad King's Trove, Return of the Bull, and later Ala Mhigan follow-up quests.
