From Refugee to Champion
Raubahn was born in Ala Mhigo, but his life was irrevocably changed when the Garlean Empire conquered his homeland. Fleeing as a refugee to Ul'dah, he found himself with no prospects in a city-state where wealth dictates status. His only viable path was the gladiatorial pits of the Bloodsands. Enslaved and forced to fight for the amusement of the masses, Raubahn channeled his desperation and strength into combat. Through sheer indomitable will and peerless skill with a blade, he carved a path of victory after victory, earning fame, fortune, and his freedom. He became the undefeated champion of the arena, celebrated as “the Bull of Ala Mhigo.”
His fame allowed him to transcend his station. Using his winnings, he purchased a seat on the Syndicate, Ul'dah’s ruling council of merchant elites. He became the only member whose power was derived not from commerce, but from combat prowess and popular acclaim. This unique position made him both a symbol of hope for the common people and a constant source of unease for the traditional oligarchs like Lolorito Nanarito and Teledji Adeledji.
The Flame General and the Sultana
Raubahn’s loyalty was won not by the city’s gold, but by its young ruler, Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo. He became her staunchest defender, accepting the role of Flame General to command Ul'dah’s military, the Immortal Flames. During the events of A Realm Reborn, Raubahn serves as a steadfast ally to the Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. He helps coordinate the Eorzean Alliance’s defense against the Garlean Empire and the primal threat. As the leader of one of Eorzea’s three Grand Companies, he is a pillar of stability and martial strength.
The Bloody Banquet and Its Aftermath
Raubahn’s defining moment of crisis came at the conclusion of the A Realm Reborn storyline during the infamous "Bloody Banquet." In a plot orchestrated by Teledji Adeledji and the corrupt elements of the Crystal Braves, the Sultana was apparently poisoned. Framed for the regicide, the Scions were attacked. Witnessing Teledji’s gloating confession, Raubahn’s response was instantaneous and visceral—he slew the monetarist on the spot. However, he was betrayed by his own adjutant and former comrade from Ala Mhigo, Ilberd, who severed Raubahn’s left arm to prevent his escape.
This grievous wound was both physical and symbolic, representing the brutal cost of loyalty in a city rife with corruption. Imprisoned for Teledji’s murder, Raubahn endured captivity until he was freed by allies, including the Warrior of Light. His recovery was long, and he was fitted with a sophisticated prosthetic arm crafted by Cid nan Garlond of the Garlond Ironworks. The experience hardened his resolve but did not break his spirit.
Stormblood and Beyond
The liberation of his homeland became Raubahn’s driving purpose during the Stormblood expansion. Reuniting with his long-lost son, Pipin Tarupin, who had risen to lead the Immortal Flames in his absence, Raubahn turned his focus eastward. He played a crucial command role in the Alliance’s campaign to free Ala Mhigo from Garlean rule, finally confronting the ghosts of his past on the very soil from which he had been exiled decades prior.
Following the war, Raubahn returned to Ul'dah, his position and honor restored. He continues to serve as the Flame General and Nanamo’s protector, though his perspective is now that of a man who has reclaimed his past while securing his city’s future. He remains a key military leader within the Eorzean Alliance, his authority tempered by the scars of experience.

His relationship with Nanamo Ul Namo is the cornerstone of his character. He is her unwavering protector and most trusted advisor. With Pipin, he shares a complex bond marked by initial absence, pride, and eventual reconciliation as father and son, and as fellow commanders. His rivalry with Ilberd—once a brother-in-arms from Ala Mhigo—ended in bitter betrayal, a wound that haunted Raubahn until their final confrontation. His interactions with the Warrior of Light are marked by profound respect, viewing them as a kindred spirit who changes the world through decisive action.

While not a playable character, Raubahn is integral to the Main Scenario Quest (MSQ).
