Overview

Beneath the Ninth's roiling sky lies the Mist Continent, once home to the Kingdom of Alexandria and her fellow nations. The nearest of these, according to Sphene, was the city-state of Treno. It is toward that potential bastion of civilization that you and your companions now forge a path through the storm...

Objectives

  • Traverse Quan Caverns.
  • Defeat the Treno catoblepas.
  • Traverse the Treno lowlands.
  • Defeat Amdusias.
  • Traverse the streets of Treno.
  • Defeat the thundergust griffin.

Enemies

Boss Notes

  • Note that failing any mechanics in these fights will result in the player who failed them receiving a 1 minute stacking Vulnerability Up debuff.
  • Around the arena are several rock formations that will block movement. Whenever a rock is struck with one of the catoblepas's lightning attacks, it will break. The party must take care to not let too many rocks be destroyed, as it will cause the boss's Bedeviling Light attack to become unavoidable and wipe the party.

Boss Encounters

Treno Catoblepas

  • Earthquake: Unavoidable moderate physical damage to the entire party.
  • Thunder II: Small targeted lightning circle AoEs centered on each player as well as scattered randomly around the arena. Both sets of AoEs can break the rocks around the arena: The fallen rocks crumble...
  • Bedeviling Light: An arena-wide attack that inflicts Stone Curse, preventing afflicted players from moving or performing actions and causing instant death if they take further damage. This can only be avoided by hiding behind a rock and will always be immediately followed up with Earthquake.
  • Thunder III: A small circular AoE magical tankbuster.
  • Ray of Lightning: A line stack marker on a random player. This will also break any rocks in the line.
  • Petribreath: The boss faces a random player and exhales a late-telegraphed large cone AoE, dealing damage and inflicting Stone Curse on players caught in it.

Amdusias

  • Thunderclap Concerto: The boss positions itself in the center of the arena and surrounds itself with seven lightning orbs, leaving either its front or rear open. This attack will hit everywhere except a cone in the opening, dealing high damage.
  • Bio II: An unavoidable arena-wide magical attack that deals light damage and also creates several poison bubbles around the arena.
  • Galloping Thunder: The boss will telegraph several line AoEs in sequence, then charge across the arena along those lines, dealing damage to players caught in its path. Any poison bubbles the boss tramples will turn red and explode in a circle AoE (Burst) after a short time.
  • Thunder IV: Deals unavoidable magical damage to the party and also triggers any remaining poison bubbles to turn red and explode.
  • Shockbolt: Single target magical tankbuster.
  • Thunder: Targeted circle AoEs on each player. This is always coupled with Thunderclap Concerto after the boss's first two uses of it.
  • Thunder III: A stack marker that hits three times in a row for magical damage.

Survivor of Storms: Thundergust Griffin

  • Thunderspark: An unavoidable attack that deals moderate magical damage to the party. The first cast will also surround the arena in a pool of lightning, which will inflict a powerful Electrocution damage over time effect.
  • High Volts: Targeted circle AoEs on each player, as well as three circle AoEs on the ground in random spots. The circle AoEs will become lightning orbs after the attack resolves.
  • Thundering Roar: The boss will move to the edge of the arena and both it and the lightning orbs will project tendrils toward each other, which mark where line AoEs will appear, covering a majority of the arena. The boss will then move to another edge of the arena and perform the attack again, at which point the lightning orbs will vanish.
  • Whenever the boss jumps to an edge, it will gain Directional Disregard.
  • Golden Talons: Single target physical tankbuster.
  • Fulgurous Fall: The boss will move to the edge of the arena and dash across the center in a line, which will also knock back players outside of the line. The knockback can be prevented with immunities. After the first dash, four lightning orbs will appear and the boss will crash down in a line perpendicular to its initial dash. The boss will follow this up with a single Thundering Roar from the center of the arena.
  • Storm Surge: The boss will move to the edge of the arena and cast a line AoE across it, which will create a lightning vortex on the opposite side of the arena. This vortex will travel around the outside of the arena and act as an additional lightning orb for the boss's next two casts of Thundering Roar. The vortex will stop moving once Thundering Roar begins to cast.
