Overview
Igeyorhm is a female Ascian and member of the Convocation of Fourteen, distinguished by her red mask. She first appeared briefly during the epilogue of A Realm Reborn before taking on a more prominent role as a secondary antagonist throughout Heavensward. Her arc culminates in a climactic confrontation alongside her cousin Lahabrea at the Aetherochemical Research Facility, where the two merge into a powerful Ascian Prime before being defeated by the Warrior of Light.
History & Lore
Origins in Amaurot
Before the Sundering shattered the world, Igeyorhm held a seat on the Convocation of Fourteen in the ancient city of Amaurot. The position she occupied was traditionally bestowed upon the foremost champion of enlightenment and rhetoric among her people. She was also a cousin to Lahabrea, another prominent member of that same governing body.
When the Sundering occurred and souls were fragmented across the new shards of the world, a piece of Igeyorhm's soul was eventually recovered by the unsundered Ascians. Her memories were restored, and she was brought into the ranks of the Ascians to continue working toward the resurrection of their god, Zodiark.
The Thirteenth and Its Ruin
Igeyorhm was dispatched to the Thirteenth, one of the shards born from the Sundering, with the task of triggering its first Umbral Calamity and setting the stage for a rejoining with the Source. To accomplish this, she manipulated a dark knight named Golbez, convincing him that eliminating the shard's watcher — a servant of Hydaelyn — would bring order to a world already consumed by chaos.
The plan succeeded in the most catastrophic sense. The resulting calamity drowned the Thirteenth in darkness, reducing it to a near-empty void. Its surviving inhabitants were transformed into voidsent, rendering the shard impossible to rejoin with the Source. The Ascians considered the endeavor a failure, and Igeyorhm, bearing the weight of that catastrophe, sought to atone by dedicating herself to supporting Lahabrea's efforts on the Source.
Role in Heavensward
Igeyorhm's involvement in the events of Ishgard began subtly. She observed the Warrior of Light's victory over the primal Ravana and later appeared alongside Archbishop Thordan VII following the defeat of Bismarck. There, she remarked that the Blessing of Light had been restored, though at a diminished strength compared to its former potency.
Seizing the moment, she unleashed a beam of dark energy against the Warrior of Light, forcing them to surrender the key to Azys Lla. This act allowed Archbishop Thordan to unlock passage to the forbidden continent, advancing the archbishop's ambitions while simultaneously serving the Ascians' broader agenda.
Defeat at the Aetherochemical Research Facility
Igeyorhm and Lahabrea made their final stand against the Warrior of Light deep within the Aetherochemical Research Facility. The two Ascians fought together, but the Warrior's strength — bolstered by a fully reawakened Blessing of Light — proved overwhelming. Outmatched and facing defeat, Igeyorhm suggested they retreat, but the battle had already turned decisively against them.
The pair fused into an Ascian Prime in a last desperate effort, yet even this combined form was defeated. Following the separation, the Warrior of Light imprisoned Igeyorhm within a shard of White Auracite and destroyed it, ending her existence permanently.
Personality
Igeyorhm carries herself with the cold confidence typical of the Ascians, sharing much of Lahabrea's imperious demeanor. She is deeply devoted to Zodiark and the Ascian cause, viewing their work as an unquestionable imperative rather than a choice. Her arrogance is perhaps her most defining trait — she struggles to accept the possibility of defeat, even when the evidence is plain before her.
Relationships
The most significant relationship in Igeyorhm's life is her kinship with Lahabrea. As cousins who both served on the Convocation of Fourteen, their bond predates the Sundering itself. This connection carries through into their work as Ascians, where they operate as close collaborators and ultimately share their final battle side by side. Despite their shared arrogance, their partnership reflects a degree of mutual reliance that sets them apart from the more solitary tendencies of other Ascians.
Etymology and Symbolism
The name Igeyorhm draws from Final Fantasy XII, where a light scion called Martyr Igeyohrm is referenced in the lore surrounding the character Shemhazai. This connection extends to visual design as well — the magical glyph that manifests when Igeyorhm channels her power closely resembles the lower portion of Shemhazai's own glyph, though inverted, suggesting a deliberate thematic and aesthetic link between the two figures across the broader Final Fantasy mythos.
